Britain in Focus: A Photographic History

17th March 2017 - 25th June 2017

Free

Britain in Focus: A Photographic History explores the fascinating and remarkable history of British photography; from everyday snapshots to world-renowned images.

In conjunction with a BBC4 TV series of the same name, the exhibition looks at the changing ways we share and consume photographs, from the rapid technological progress of the 19th century to today’s selfies on social media.

Alongside pictures taken by anonymous soldiers in the First World War trenches and press shots of historic moments, the exhibition includes work by John Bulmer, William Henry Fox Talbot, Cecil Beaton, Martin Parr, Eamonn McCabe, Fay Godwin and Nadav Kander.
